About Shawn

Grew up poor in north Toronto, son of a stubborn single mom. Learned rebellion from my grandparents. Learned how to not get kicked out of high school the hard way (only took me three times… or was it four?). Sci-fi was my dream of escape — at first reading, then writing. Then socialist politics became the other dream of escape and the two just sort of fused somewhere along the way.

Both have stayed with me through it all — waiter, screenwriting development executive, writing teacher/coach… and writer.
